Christmas in The Gambia

PROJECT GAMBIA WRITES..
This year students at Ridgewood High School decided that they wanted to give the children at Half Dye School a very special Christmas. So, they enlisted the help of Remsco Trading Company who agreed to organise and pay for the transport of two pallets full of Christmas presents.
Over a period of two weeks students brought in a range of items including toys, books, pens, pencils, colouring books, sweets, and clothes and several lunchtimes were spent filling, wrapping and individually labelling shoeboxes full of presents, one for each of the children in the school at Half Dye.
They were then delivered to Remsco Trading Company who packed them into two pallets and delivered them to Gatwick Airport where they were flown to Banjul Airport. At Banjul Florence, the Headteacher at Half Dye and Karamo Tamba, one of Ridgewood’s friends in The Gambia organised for a land rover to collect them and take them to the school.
Footnote…every March over 70 students and staff from Ridgewood go to work in our schools in The Gambia. We are grateful for all they contribute to the work of New Life Children’s Centres.
