Growing Our Own

Growing our own… all the young people being trained have come up through our schools and have themselves been sponsored. Amazing isn’t it?

For a long time we have wanted to develop the vocational side of the school. We have seen
young people who have been, or are in the process of being trained for teaching, and another one soon to start her nursing training, so going now into this new area of vocational training is really exciting!

We are pleased to announce that we now have our first student, 26-year-old Echen Manga, one of our former students, who is now enrolled at the Gambia Technical Training Institute. He is being sponsored by a church in the West Midlands. Since leaving school after grade 12, he has come regularly to help out at NLCC alongside Desmond, who is in charge of the maintenance side of the work. Because of his commitment and loyalty to the work, he was asked if he would like to attend the college.

He writes…

“It was because of New Life that I began to go to school and get to know God in my life and have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is also because of New Life that I am able to further my education to study for three years at G.T.T.I. I am studying Electrical and Electronic engineering. I thank NLCC for giving me the opportunity to study there and it is because of being sponsored all my life that I am what I am today. You have helped me in so many ways and I really appreciate what you have done. I pray God will continue to bless you.”
