Clara’s Dream

My name is Clara Mendy and I am a Gambian by nationality. My mum was a single parent and by the time I was twelve, she was very sick. She had to care for me and my three sisters and could not afford to send us to school so New Life sponsored us. I also began to attend the Christian programmes and was regular and punctual in all the activities. New Life is still helping us and making such a difference in my life and my son Andrew is sponsored too. I was able to have computer courses paid for by Heather from England and am now employed by New Life as a secretary .I cannot pay them back for all they have done for me but God can! My parents have both passed away but I thank God that with the salary I now earn, I am able to provide food, pay rent and clothe my son.

Heather writes…
I met Clara three years ago. She is a single mum and her son, Andrew is my daughter`s sponsored child. Clara`s dream was to return to education and train as a secretary. She is an intelligent woman who had little opportunity to fulfil her potential. Two years later after being given a reconditioned laptop and enrolled at College, Clara has gained a distinction in computer studies and also in office management.

Investing into this beautiful young woman`s future has blessed her and her family in more ways than you can imagine. She now has full time employment in Half Dye, as the new school secretary! She is able to support her family and takes great pride in her new role. We have felt blessed to be able to make her dreams come true and at the same time help train a member of staff to support our New Life schools. Thank you Ken and Sylvia for also believing in Clara`s potential.
